Soil Plays a Key Role Tea is grown primarily in Southeast Asia, in the countries of China,
India, Japan, Maylasia and Thailand. The tea plant thrives in nutrient
rich soil and in high altitudes far where billowing mists protect the
tender leaves from the scorching sun. The Oothu garden in India
is on the cutting edge of eco-production, and it is one of the only
biodynamic tea gardens in the world. Here, a composting system
is employed that creates optimum soil conditions for the tea plants
to flourish. This process involves complex system of layering

different types of compostables and including commonly used medicinal herbs. Biodynamic
gardening is a remarkable way to care for the earth and produce a superior yield from your garden.

Numi Flowering Tea Artisans Visit California to
Show Off Their Skills
Numi hosted some very special guests from China recently. Lisong
Wang and Lu Yan Chan attended the Fancy Food Show in San
Francisco where they demonstrated sowing Flowering Tea live. Kai
Xin, the visionary behind Numi's Flowering Tea was also present
and spoke to the crowds, sharing his inspiring story of turning his
|
|
remote village, that was struggling to survive, into a thriving Flowering Tea Garden. Numi was
honored to have these incredible guests there and excited to be able to share the artistry behind the
magic of flowering tea firsthand with the people at this show. |

Chicago 's Shades of Green
Numi celebrated Earth Day at the Green Festival in Chicago.
A joint venture between Coop America and Global Exchange,
Green Festival is the premiere green event in the US , educating
the public about important issues, raising eco-consciousness of the
communities they visit. San Francisco has hosted 4 Green Festivals,
and DC has hosted two. This was the first year that Chicago has
participated, but it was an enthusiastic and incredibly successful
affair with over 31,000 attendees. Mayor Daley and Dennis
Kucinich spoke to the crowds and there was an inspiring
upswelling of local organizations collaborating in creative
ways in honor of earth day.

Monkey King's Biggest Fan
In Chicago we ran into Liza, who is quite possibly Monkey King's
biggest fan and drinks Numi Organic Tea exclusively! She's loved
the character of Monkey King (see Sip 2 of Liquid Meditations to
learn more about this) and started drinking the tea because of its
name but kept on drinking because of the quality of the tea. Through
this one creative name for Jasmine Green Tea she's discovered the
world of flavors that Numi's wonderful teas and teasans offer, and
even her God Child is a green tea drinker. Thanks Liza for being a
Numi Devotea! Keep your eyes peeled for a special Numi treat
coming your way. |
