For the past few years, we've had hundreds of requests to produce a vertically packed green bean. When we asked for details, we discovered that a leading U.S. canner had previously offered such a product but had phased it out years ago. Apparently, this vertical pack bean was popular, especially in the south, where this was used in a holiday vegetable dish that was affectionately known as bean bundles or haystacks. The beans were bundled around a strip of bacon over which a blend of bean juice, brown sugar, all spice (and sometimes hot sauce) were added, then baked. This became a holiday favorite. We're happy to bring back these wonderful beans. Ours are hand picked, trimmed and hand packed for the best and most uniform selection.
