Barrel aged in limited quantities and seasoned with 1.5% sea salt, our Burgundy Cooking Wine is characterized by its classic aroma, rich ruby color, smooth mellow flavor and medium-bodied light and not too dry finish. Its justifably famous for flavoring French classics such as Coq au Vin, and adds a rich complex flavor to sauces, gravies, and stews. 3700 cases have been aged to perfection.

Easy Coq au Vin

  • 3 lbs. whole chicken, cut up
  • 2 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 2 Tbsp. Napa Valley Naturals Olive Oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 bottle Napa Valley Naturals Burgundy Wine
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme
  • 1 tsp. marjoram
  • 1 8 oz. can white onions, drained
  • 1/2 3 oz. can whole mushrooms, drained
  • pepper to taste

In large skillet, brown chicken well in butter and oil. Add burgundy and spices. Simmer 45 minutes or until chicken is tender. During last 5 minutes of cooking, add onions and mushrooms. Thicken sauce with 2 tablespoons flour and 1/4 cup water made into a paste. Serves 4.
