Mezedes
Mezedes are Greek dishes akin to Spanish tapas. More than merely
appetizers, Mezedes represent an evening buffet of bite-size delicacies
that can be enjoyably eaten with fingers. The tradition of mezedes
evolved because morning and noon meals in Greece are light and dinner is
often not served until late in the evening.
Greek cuisine is rich in mezedes, which range from simple
olives
and cheeses to more complex dishes, such as dolmas (stuffed grape leaves).
Throwing a mezedes dinner party is surprisingly easy. You can make a
number of very simple mezedes and purchase more complex ones ready-made
from Greek or specialty markets - or if you're enterprising, you can
make the complex dishes in advance.
Traditional Mezedes dishes include:
Traditionally, most dishes call for drizzling olive oils on top. For a
truly authentic taste,

Hellas
extra virgin olive oils can't be beat. MOREA will add a clear, fresh,
buttery olive flavor to your more delicate dishes, while Hellas brings
a bright, slightly peppery flavor to heartier foods.
