Puffins Cereal - Much Better for Lynda Than Smoking...

My name is Lynda and six years ago I quite smoking. I did not use the patch or any other product of that nature. Everyday though, I did fill a Ziploc bag with Puffins and kept them on my desk at work. One of my big concerns was gaining weight. Although I knew smoking was bad for me I did not want to put on weight. Puffins helped Lynda quit smoking.

Well the good news is that I am still smoke-free; Puffins cereal got me through the tough times and I enjoy them still. I also applied for a life insurance policy and was given a preferred rating. Had I chosen candy or another less healthy alternative would not have qualified.

Today I feel much healthier and will hopefully be able to ride my bike 64 miles next month in celebration of a friend's birthday.

Kathy, Jean, and Mary - aka "3 Lucky Puffins Ladies"

Kathy, Jean, and I are three co-workers. After returning from a Maine vacation, Kathy told Jean and me about her experience of learning about the puffin birds that are native to Maine. Jean suddenly perked up and mentioned a beloved story called "Lucky Mrs. Ticklefeather" which told of an old lady who had a pet puffin. The lady wanted a sunflower and her pet puffin sets out to fulfill this desire. Mrs. Ticklefeather is terribly concerned when her dear puffin disappears but they are reunited in the end and the puffin presents her with the sunflower.

Knowing Jean's birthday was coming soon, Kathy searched and found a copy of "Lucky Mrs. Ticklefeather". When it arrived she quickly squirreled it away.

I conspired even further to find "something puffin". An Internet search turned up your marvelous Barbara's Bakery website where I found healthy Puffins cereal and even "Puffins Stuff". Time was too close to send boxtops and receive Puffins items but with your website's help I found retailers carrying boxes of Puffins cereal.

The day of Jean's birthday arrived. Her desk held a vase of sunflowers from Kathy. Upon Jean unwrapping "Lucky Mrs. Ticklefeather" there was extended squealing, delight, hugs and laughter. Then came the four boxes of cereal and more squealing and delight. I asked for the boxtops right away so I could quickly send off for the related "Puffins Stuff" for Jean. It was a very, very happy day with Jean exclaiming that this was "her best birthday ever"!

Thank you for helping us create this most special day for Jean. And by the way, her husband LOVED the cereal as much as Jean. Expect a contingent of new steady customers!

Peanut the Parrot - is there a resemblance to our Puffin?

I wanted to compliment you on your excellent cereals. I used to eat Shredded and Originals Puffins Spoonfuls for about a year, and I've been eating Puffins (original flavor) for over a year. I have a bowl every morning, and sometimes at night for a snack. With Puffins the texture is perfect, and the amount of flavor is just right -- mellow but not bland. My parrot, Peanut, has now figured out the sound of me eating cereal, and she'll fly over and steal Puffins from my bowl. I'm strict about keeping her on a high-quality diet, but Puffins are good stuff, so I'm happy to let her have a few. I was finally able to get a picture Peanut with some Puffins. Of course, she waited until just a moment after I took the picture to grab a Puffin and scamper off. I also recently tried your cereal bars, and they're excellent as well. Please keep up the great work!

See the smile on his face – it’s tough to flash a big grin when you don’t have lips and teeth – but that definitely is a parrot grin. I noticed the juxtaposition of the two birds and grabbed the picture!

Our girl Annabel thinks Puffins ROCK!

Every year at the end of the summer we go to Maine to visit my husband's mother at her summer home. Annabel says "Puffins ROCK!" And every year she sends us home with an eclectic sampling of leftover foodstuffs she doesn't have room to take back with her but can't bring herself to throw away. Included in the collection last summer was a half bag of STALE Puffins.

Hungry for something on our trip home, I ate the stale squares as snacks. Later, I saw them in the co-op while I was was grocery shopping and was surprised they were less expensive than most of the brand-name cereals we eat. I bought a box thinking I might like them even better if they were fresh. I was right. They taste great. When Annabel, our daughter, was old enough to eat snacks a few months later I gave her some. Now she even demands to "read" the box when she's snacking on them.

Weetabix and Shredded Wheat satisfy Peggy Violet...

Your products are the best foods to eat. I don't have a very good appetite as I had cancer called Santa and Peggynon-Hodgin lymphoma. I can eat your Weetabix and Shredded Wheat without any problems. I even gained some weight. I am 80 years old and do very well. My health is a lot better. I even told the ladies at church to try Weetabix.

Even Rainier couldn't get enough GrainShop!

Thought some employees might find the attached photo entertaining! My 18-month old golden retriever, Rainier, the GrainShop Dog, was trying to get the last flakes out of the breakfast box this weekend... proceeding to get her head stuck in the GrainShop cereal box - running into the island in the middle of the kitchen and causing quite a riot! She actually was like this for a good 5 minutes - before I became curious to all the racket in the kitchen.

Debbie couldn't face another bowl of oatmeal...

Our family is your greatest set of fans of Shredded Oats. My cholesterol is quite high and, after years of eating hot oatmeal, I hit the wall and couldn't face another bite. That's when I stumbled upon your product at Trader Joe's. I'm not a big fan of health food cereals, and I fully expected it to taste like cardboard (although I had already tried your Peanut Butter Puffins, so I knew you had the ability to make a pretty tasty cereal).

What a great surprise! It tastes way too good, and is far too satisfying, to be so healthy. My 13-year old son, Ben, who in the past would always choose the most high-sugar, low-fiber cereal I'd allow him to eat, loves Shredded Oats. He burns through a box so fast that he's doubled his milk intake and I can barely keep these two items in stock. I now buy four boxes of Shredded Oats and two gallons of milk at a time. But that's not what motivated me to write. Ben has spent the last week visiting with his grandparents, who live in a tiny town in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He packed a box of Shredded Oats along with his Game Cube and stuffed animals. No joke! I just called up there to finalize plans to pick him up, and my mother-in-law requested that we bring her a box of Shredded Oats. She's been eating them, too, and is running out. This request comes from a 78-year old woman, originally from the South, whose idea of healthy food is green beans slow-cooked in a pot with ham hocks and butter. Would you adopt us and make us your poster family? All we ask in return is a lifetime supply of Barbara's Shredded Oats.

Henry is 81 years young, artistic, and LOVES our Potato Chips...

I'm on a salt free diet and noticed your Potato Chips which were stacked in between other items, just by chance at Publix. So I bought all seven bags and enjoyed them twice daily. I've asked them to reorder so they'll be available. Thanks for producing such an excellent product. P.S.
